USA Today is taking a poll on the 2nd Amendment:
Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?
It may be either a loaded question, or perhaps it was devised by someone totally ignorant of the concept that rights come from God rather than from civil government (i.e., the Constitution does not grant us any rights; it merely acknowledges the rights we already have). I have found that many polls have questions like this that the thoughtful, principled person must answer in a way that makes him appear much farther to the left than he really is.
Nonetheless, I did participate in the poll, and I voted "Yes". If you wish to have a voice in this poll that demonstrates the egregious failure of American public education, follow this link:

Good post! I agree with you 100%.
Good analysis (deeper than mine, of course--though was super rushing with nearly $200 emails last night...)
Thanks for posting!

Ugh. Can they not read? There is no giving of anything here:
"the right ... shall not be infringed."
If government gets it in its head that rights are given, then rights can be just as easily taken away.

That said, I voted yes, as the amendment does recognize the existing right of armed defense among the general citizenry. It's nice to see an overwhelming vote to "Yes"... but I wonder if USA Today will report the results.
