Is Big Brother Tracking You?

Here's a news item from CNN.

Law enforcement officers may secretly place a GPS device on a person's car without seeking a warrant from a judge, according to a recent federal appeals court ruling in California.

Court Allows Agents to Secretly Put GPS Trackers on Cars

Of course, there is absolutely no gov't agent who would ever abuse this power . . . right? You can almost hear the jackboots now: "Constitution? We don't need no stinkin' Constitution."

Ain't technology grand?

Improvised Weapons by Kelly McCann

Kelly McCann (aka Jim Grover) has a Paladin Press video on the topic of improvised weapons for self defense. I think the excerpt below is worth looking at.

I particularly like what he says about using spray lubricant, mainly because you can get it in smaller, more easily carried cans than wasp spray.

Odds and Ethics

Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. (Lev 26:8)

The Lord gave the promise above to Israel, but the promise had a condition: "'If you walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them." (Lev 26:3)

For the believer, victory in any area of life is covenantal, which means that it is inescapably ethical. It's just another way of stating the message I gave some time back in my post about Sir Galahad.

Self Defense and Mercy

Within the last week I have heard two professing Christians advocate dying at the hands of an assailant rather than defending oneself. To opt for death rather than self defense is not [Biblical] mercy.

One of these gentlemen stated that if he should die , he would go to heaven, but if any assailants who died would go straight to hell. The idea is that it shows mercy to keep the other person out of hell.

Let's think about that for a moment in light of Scripture:

That servant, who knew his lord's will, and didn't prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes, but he who didn't know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked. (Luk 12:47-48)

Theologians have long associated this passage with the idea that, even for the lost and hellbound, there will be degrees of punishment in eternity. The more sins (and the more egregious the sins) a person commits, the worse it go for him in the judgment.

Now, let's apply this to your assailant. If he kills you, he goes to judgment with your murder plus all the violent acts he commits for the rest of his life. If you kill him, he still goes to hell, but with fewer offenses and with a sentence of "fewer stripes".

I might also query whether one of these gentlemen would be so willing to sacrifice his Christian wife or child (or grandchild) in his mercy to an attacker. After all, if they are Christians, they will go to Heaven, too.

If he would defend his loved ones, then what about his neighbors? How many of them will die at the hands of this orc? How many victims will he send to hell before he goes there himself?

Since the Bible condones self defense, we can be assured that God is more concerned with protection of the victim than the assailant. For the rest of us, I would recommend that we not try to be holier than God.

Hard Lessons

DLR sent me the link to an online article at Guns Magazine called "Hard Lessons at the University of Hard Knocks". His email said, "An interesting perspective from a veteran sheepdog."

What goes through the mind of an experienced warrior when a young boy asks him about his shrapnel-disfigured legs?  Read "Hard Lessons" and find out.

From Gun Control to Food Control

The civil government's tactics for extending control always start at the fringes and move inward. Gun raids begin with weird cult groups like the Branch Davidians or neo-Nazi militia groups. Food raids begin with a small minority of people who go to the trouble and expense of buying natural, raw foods.

We don't have to go overseas to find examples of state-sponsored terrorism. (See this article and this article)

And then there are the horror stories of raids on homeschool families that would fill a whole series of books. The issue is not quality of education (home education has been proved superior over and over), but rather who owns the children.

Indeed, that is the issue behind all the bureaucrat and police state tactics: "Who owns the citizens?" If the civil gov't owns you, then the civil gov't has the authority to determine what you learn and how. It also has the authority to determine what you eat, how much, or even whether or not you eat at all.

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1Co 6:20)

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Gal 5:1)

Innocents Betrayed

Innocents Betrayed is the name of a film produced by the JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership). You can download a clip to watch from the introduction of the film here:
Download a clip

What I like about the film's approach is that it centers on the real and most pertinent reason for the right to keep and bear arms: defense against predatory governments. I believe in the sporting use of arms -- venison is great -- but it's not the chief rationale for the private ownership of firearms.

That's also why I like FrontSight. They unashamedly and unabashedly stand for the right to keep and bear arms as a deterrent to tyranny.

I know that even mentioning a Jewish organization may raise the hackles of some of my more sensitive readers, but I don't see the average Jew as more evil than any other average sinner out there, including myself.

That doesn't mean that I endorse their belief system. In other words, I don't consider them brothers, but I do see them as neighbors. And the JPFO are neighbors that share an important common interest.

A New Blog: Adjunct to Warrior Fitness

I have started a new blog that can serve as an adjunct to warrior fitness. It is called Back Decompression.

It's not limited to martial arts/self defense types, but it promotes back health in general. A bad back puts a big crimp in the warrior lifestyle. (Ask the man who owns one.)

So, if you have back problems, check out my new site. Even if you don't, and you want to do me a favor, go to the site & tweet it and/or "like" it for Facebook. Actions like that will help the site get noticed by the search engines.

If you don't have any back pain, there is a general back decompression exercise there that is easy, simple & might just keep your back healthy & pain free.
